DONCASTER ST LEGER 1788

The 13th winner of the St Leger, held on Tuesday 23rd September 1788 over the 2 miles of Town Moor, was Young Flora, a bay filly by Highflyer out of Flora, owned by Lord Archibald Hamilton, trained and ridden by John Mangle at Ashgill, Middleham. A field of 5 runners contested the race, although there were 10 subscriptions of 25 guineas each, which was worth 250 Guineas. (Equivalent to £37,700 in 2017)
